In the winter of 2016, at the age of 25, I moved back to the land I grew up on to create a farm. The once semi-rural plot had turned into a sprawling suburb. My sister and her family bought the land next to my parents and I attempted the multi- generational farm dream in the middle of suburbia. On degraded soil and ten thousand dollars, I started from the ground up. Despite start-up expenses, infrastructure, vehicle repairs, etc; I survived, and even thrived, the inaugural year of Earth First Farm. I have a ½ acre market garden and homestead amounts of livestock. I am continually planting perennials to increase diversity for all species. I sell to the local community and am looking forward to the 2017 season. Thank you all for the support in my first year!
